Dutch Countryside excursion

SCROLL DOWN

Dutch Countryside excursion

A trip to the pristine Dutch countryside is a must! You will stroll through fishermen towns, taste the most delicious Dutch cheese and go into a centuries old working windmill. This will be much more than just a sightseeing tour... a true memorable experience!

Suggested itinerary

During this private tour we will drive to different traditional Dutch villages, like the fishing village of Marken but also to some less touristy gems as Broek in Waterland, the cheese town of Edam and the Beemster polder (a World Heritage site recognised by UNESCO due to the perfect design and water management improvement it had in the past). We will enter an incredible four hundred year old working windmill, learn about the ingenious techniques of it, see the famous cows grazing in the flat meadows, taste cheeses and enjoy much more along the Dutch countryside!

The tour of the Dutch Countryside was the highlight of our entire trip to me. You visit these quaint little villages - it’s like stepping back in time. We got to see not only how they made Dutch cheese - but also wooden shoes. Definitely something everyone should see. We also toured a 500+ year old windmill - the miller was even there to answer questions and show us around. Beyond the tour itself - Tom and his team are simply the best. From my first email exchange to my last minute request to pick up a package from our hotel - they were 100% customer focused. If you are considering a trip to the Netherlands - this is the team to do it with - you will not be disappointed. We can’t wait to come back and see more of this amazing country with this great group of people. — Michelle - United States - Tripadvisor

Tulip Excursion

Tulip Excursion

With our private tulip tours you will experience the Dutch flower fields like nowhere else. You will enjoy breathtaking landscape covered by the yellow, red, purple or white fields, along ancient windmills and pristine villages.

Tom took my friends and me on a full day tour through the tulip farms outside Amsterdam and it was amazing! We visited several fields where was a rainbow of tulips almost as far as the eye could see and took tons of gorgeous photos. We also toured the inside of a windmill, went to the beautiful village of Edam, and had wonderful savory pannekoeken for lunch. Tom arrived on time, was fun, expert, and completely flexible. This was the experience of a lifetime. — Susan - United States - Tripadvisor

Just finished the Dutch countryside tour with Tom. We saw many postcardlike scenes in quaint villages, farms, and of course the windmills. The windmill design and history was fascinating. He exceeded our expectations! In addition to his vast knowledge of history along the drive, Tom had some nice surprises including some Dutch snacks and wine/cheese following our visit to the windmill. As an added bonus, Tom turned out to be a professional photographer and he was snapping some really great shots of our family with his professional equipment. He clearly enjoys showing off his country with pride. Salvatore - Bermuda - Tripadvisor

I can’t rave enough about Tomstravel Tours. I just returned from a 3-day pvt. guided tour with Tom. From my first correspondence via email I knew I had selected the BEST touring company to meet my specific needs. I wanted to visit the areas north of Amsterdam, specifically the picture postcard village of Geithoorn. He created a terrific and very FLEXIBLE itinerary based on my personal interests & activity preferences—-biking, boating, wildlife, & photography. I felt quite fortunate to have Tom as my guide for those 3 remarkable & memorable days. He spoke perfect English and knows his native country inside and out. I learned so much about the areas we visited in addition to enjoying all the sites/activities. Everything was included except meals, but he always had a great stash of yummy treats & water. I was so happy I used this company after reading other great reviews on TripAdvisor. Tomstravel Tours will custom tailor tours that will surely deliver! It has my highest recommendation.

Day trip to Giethoorn

This little eight hundred years old town in the North East of The Netherlands is filled with beautiful canals and fairy tale wooden bridges, which make it charming and worth a day trip.

It’s really enjoyable to walk (or cycle!) in this idyllic -car free- town. But it’s even more fun to go in a boat through the canals, overlooking pristine gardens and picturesque thatched roof cottages. Giethoorn makes an excellent outing from Amsterdam. We normally combine it with a visit to fishing village Urk.

Day trip to Bruges

If you want to visit Bruges but don't have time enough to overnight there, we organize a perfect day trip to this Belgium gem for you!

Bruges is beautiful with picturesque cobbled lanes and dreamy canals. This Middle Ages town has exceptionally photogenic market squares lined with soaring towers, historic churches and old almshouses. Your private local guide will show you the ins and outs of Bruges and make sure that you experience Bruges at its best.

Tom took us to Bruges for a long day trip. He was great fun as well as an excellent guide. He was very attentive and efficient. He also took great photos of the family. At the end of the day we were sorry to leave him but glad to have met him. Mark - United States - Tripadvisor

We spent two full days with Henk which was such a great learning experience. He was extremely knowledgable and made the tours so much fun and enjoyable. (...). We continued on to Delft and visited the factory which was definitely worth seeing then walked around the town before heading to The Hague which was very impressive. Tom was wonderful to deal with and always got back to us promptly. We highly recommend this tour company to anyone visiting the area. Thanks again Henk for such an enjoyable two days!

We love Delft!

This picturesque city is well-known for its ties with the Dutch Royal family and the famous painter Vermeer. Delft is also world renowned for its Delft Blue earthenware, technical university, churches and its lovely canals.

Your private guide will take you to the Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles, where the famous Delft pottery is produced. You can see how they make the stunning Delft Blue and how they paint it. You also see an abundant exhibition with different pieces, collections and limited editions.

You will get to know a great deal about the rich history of this city and it's ancient and monumental buildings while you enjoy a relaxed walk in its fairy tale streets.

Rotterdam

Rotterdam

The second biggest city of the country has the biggest port of Europe. And because of its unusual architecture, Rotterdam is a Dutch gem that definitely deserves a visit. During our day tour you will be surprised by the surreal bright yellow Cube Houses and De Rotterdam complex’s stacked glass towers. The architectural thrill extends to other projects such as the swan-shaped Erasmus Bridge and red Willemsbrug bridge.

If you are into high culture, the Museumpark is waiting for you with six different museums and galleries. You can also see the country’s largest artwork in the Markthal while you enjoy a well-deserved drink.

Texel & the Wadden Islands

Texel & the Wadden Islands

Toms Travel Tours organizes private tours to all five inhabited Wadden islands. Visiting the island culture in the North of The Netherlands is an unique experience, it’s incredible!

On one side of the islands lies the North Sea, on the other side the Wadden Sea. This very shallow sea consists of various sand- and mudflats crossed by channels. As a result of tidal movement these sandflats are submerged at high tides. With low tides however it become exposed. It's such an extraordinary ecosystem and famous for its biological diversity that it's listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We can even go mud walking to the island!

It is always one of the best weekends of the year travelling with Tom and many more nice people to one of the beautiful Dutch islands! Tom knows how to create a very nice atmosphere within the group. Compliments!!! Looking forward to the next edition! Marei - The Netherlands - Tripadvisor
