Cheese, windmills, clogs - oh my!

Want to get away from the crowds? Then a private tour to the pristine Dutch countryside and windmills is a must! You will stroll through quaint fishing villages, taste the most delicious Dutch cheese and go into a centuries-old working windmill. This will be much more than just a sightseeing tour...it’s a real dive into Dutch history, culture and landscapes. A truly memorable experience!

Here’s a peek into our most popular itinerary for a day trip outside of Amsterdam.

During this private tour of the idyllic Dutch countryside, we drive through and visit some of the most beautiful traditional villages in Noord-Holland, like the fishing village of Marken. We make stopovers in less touristy gems, such as Broek in Waterland, and visit the famed cheese town of Edam.

We also explore the Beemster polder, a UNESCO World Heritage site because of its perfect design and how well it helped us Dutch to manage water in the past…and still to this day! If you like cycling, then we will make sure to enjoy a scenic bike ride too.

We also visit a cheese and clog farm where you will learn about these famous Dutch products and, of course, taste the delicious aged cheeses. Finally, we will enter an incredible 400-year-old working windmill, learn about its ingenious techniques, see the mellow cows grazing in the flat meadows, and enjoy more of the Dutch countryside along the way!

This private tour can be arranged for 5 hours, or for a more relaxed 7 hours where we have time to enjoy a long lunch.

Which will it be?

The tour of the Dutch Countryside was the highlight of our entire trip to me ... Beyond the tour itself - Tom and his team are simply the best. From my first email exchange to my last minute request to pick up a package from our hotel - they were 100% customer focused. If you are considering a trip to the Netherlands - this is the team to do it with - you will not be disappointed. We can’t wait to come back and see more of this amazing country with this great group of people.

The tour of the Dutch Countryside was the highlight of our entire trip to me. You visit these quaint little villages - it’s like stepping back in time. We got to see not only how they made Dutch cheese - but also wooden shoes. Definitely something everyone should see. We also toured a 500+ year old windmill - the miller was even there to answer questions and show us around. Beyond the tour itself - Tom and his team are simply the best.
