On our private tulip tours from Amsterdam, you will experience the prettiest, most vibrant flower fields. You will enjoy breathtaking, idyllic Dutch landscapes with historic windmills and pristine villages, nestled between fields of yellow, red, purple, white, and orange tulips. We know the best tulip fields away from the crowds!

When are they in bloom? The tulips in Holland are usually in bloom between 10 April to 5 May, but the window changes every year. The famous Keukenhof has tulips and many other flowers on display, and is open from the end of March to mid-May.

If you’re visiting outside of tulip season and love flowers, we have some other suggestions for you. Just have a look below and let us know what excites you!

Tulips Galore Tour

Tom took my friends and me on a full day tour through the tulip farms outside Amsterdam and it was amazing! We visited several fields where was a rainbow of tulips almost as far as the eye could see and took tons of gorgeous photos. We also toured the inside of a windmill, went to the beautiful village of Edam, and had wonderful savory pannekoeken for lunch. Tom arrived on time, was fun, expert, and completely flexible. This was the experience of a lifetime.

In tulip season, you can book a 5 or 7-hour private tulip tour where you can experience Holland’s prettiest, most vibrant flower fields in the northwest of the country, called the Kop van Noord Holland.

You will ride through the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Beemster with its reclaimed land and polders to the largest tulip fields in the world, where you will learn everything about our country’s signature flower. In the fields, you can take in all the striking colors, and capture the most colorful photos your friends and family will ever see.

You will end your day of tulips by visiting a working windmill in Schermerhorn, and returning to Amsterdam via the green polders.

8-Hour Tulip Mania Tour

After collecting you from your hotel early in the morning, we will head to the world-famous Keukenhof gardens to kick off this full-day tour. You will explore the Keukenhof for about 2 hours, and then we’ll head to the Kop van Noord Holland, to the largest tulip fields and away from the crowds. Along the way, you will have time to enjoy lunch in a quaint Dutch town.

Since you haven’t had enough flowers, you can choose to visit either the off-the-beaten-track Anna Pawlona gardens (sometimes called the mini Keukenhof), or visit an organic tulip farm where you may even get to taste a tulip!

Tulips, flowers, and other combination tours

If you would like to split your time between the stunning Holland tulips, and seeing other flowers like hyacinths, crocuses, and daffodils that bloom earlier than the tulips in late March. You can add on another activity, and we can suggest doing some of the following:

  • Explore the world-famous Keukenhof gardens + city of Haarlem

  • Visit the flower auction in Aalsmeer (year-round, weekday mornings only)

  • Go to a winter tulip farm in the winter near Heemskerk

  • Cycle through the old cheese city of Alkmaar, to nearby tulip fields and windmills, and take a stroll through the cute art village of Bergen

  • Visit the historical cultivar bulb and tuber gardens of Limmen and cycle or walk through the idyllic Dutch dunes nearby

  • Take in the tulip fields of the Noordoostpolder and enjoy the charming village of Giethoorn

  • and more….

See flowers outside of tulip season

For those who refuse to go back home without seeing flowers in Holland, even if it's not the right season, we have a year-round colorful suggestion.

During this private tour, you will visit the flower auction in Aalsmeer, where brokers deal with more than 21 million cut flowers and two million potted plants each day.

Then you will go to Edam. This charming village is in existence since the 13th century and is sorted with fairytale-like little houses, canals and bridges and you will have lunch enjoying the view over them.

You will top your day off when you visit a working windmill in Schermerhorn, before going back to Amsterdam by the innovative polders.

Just finished the Dutch countryside tour with Tom. We saw many postcardlike scenes in quaint villages, farms, and of course the windmills. The windmill design and history was fascinating. He exceeded our expectations! In addition to his vast knowledge of history along the drive, Tom had some nice surprises including some Dutch snacks and wine/cheese following our visit to the windmill. As an added bonus, Tom turned out to be a professional photographer and he was snapping some really great shots of our family with his professional equipment. He clearly enjoys showing off his country with pride.
